Next shake in demo
Step away. Stay Active.
Idle Hands lives in your menu bar. Once you've been idle for a while, it traces a tiny circle with your cursor, so your Mac stays awake and your status stays Active.

How it works
-
0:00 You step away
Grab a coffee, read a long document, take a call on your phone.
-
1:00 Interval passes
Idle Hands waits for the full interval you chose, anywhere from 10 seconds to an hour.
-
1:00 One small loop
The cursor traces an 8‑pixel circle and lands exactly where it started.
-
Still Active
It sends real mouse movement, which resets your Mac's idle timer, the same one Teams and Slack use to decide when you're Away.
Set it once, forget it's there
Every setting is one click from the menu bar. These are the defaults.
How long you need to be idle before it moves. Only when you're idle is on by default, so it never moves while you work.
Optional: only run during working hours. Overnight shifts work too.
Anywhere from 4 to 40 pixels, with a live preview.
How long one loop takes, from a flick to a slow drift.
Starts quietly with your Mac. Updates install themselves.

No Dock icon, no window to manage. Click the hand to see what it's doing.
Small, honest, and signed
Signed and notarized
Signed by Cajun Solutions, LLC and notarized by Apple, so it opens without warnings.
One permission
macOS only lets apps move the pointer with Accessibility access. Idle Hands uses it for the loop and nothing else. It never reads what you type or what's on screen.
No accounts, no tracking
Nothing to sign up for and no analytics in the app. The only thing it contacts is our download server, to check for updates.
Questions
Will it move my cursor while I'm working?
No. With "Only when I'm idle" on (the default), Idle Hands waits until you haven't touched the mouse or keyboard for the whole interval. The moment you move, the countdown starts over.
Does it work with Teams and Slack?
Apps that set your status from your Mac's idle time see the loop as activity, because it's real mouse movement rather than a simulated keep-awake. That's why it needs Accessibility access.
What do I need to run it?
A Mac running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Download the zip, drag Idle Hands to Applications, open it, and follow the one-screen setup.
Is it free?
Idle Hands is free during early access. A paid version is coming soon; pricing hasn't been set yet.
Can I use it at work?
Idle Hands keeps your Mac awake and present while you read, present or step away. It doesn't hide anything from your Mac or your apps, so follow your workplace's policies as you would with any tool.
